This summer, our Senior Editor, Ian McLaughlin will mark 10 years at Chief.

In that time he’s seen the video landscape change and shift immeasurably. In this interview with Little Black Book, Ian talks through his process, inspiration, work and techniques.

As Joint Head of Post, Ian has taken the post-production team from 2 to 15 people, editing and colouring commercials, music promos and documentaries. Across his career as an editor and colourist, Ian has worked on projects for BBC, ITV, 422, The Farm, Blue Peter, BBC Sport and more.

In this detailed interview, Ian discusses the processes he applies to his work, the projects that he is most proud of the people in the field who inspire him the most and why it’s important to have more than just eggs when you’re baking.
